Any Lamar Odom fans out there? Well, not only is he a two-time NBA champion for the Los Angeles Lakers and the latest reality TV star on the show Khloé & Lamar (not that I’ve ever watched it), but did you know that he’s also the latest spokesperson for Life Insurance Awareness Month?
I didn’t even know there was such a thing until I stumbled across his PSA where he tells the audience about growing up with his grandmother after his mother died of colon cancer when he was 12.
Needless to say, because of life insurance, Lamar was able to continue his private school education and the rest is history.
To be honest, I never thought about life insurance until I got married. And now that I’ve just had my second child my wife and I just reviewed our policies again to make sure we felt comfortable with the amount of life insurance we have.
Right about now you’re probably thinking, “Why should I care about life insurance?”
Truth is, you may not need to care about it right now. But someday you’ll probably need to. And when that time comes – when you get married, when you have a baby, or when you decide that the debt you have is too much to leave to someone else – just know that buying life insurance doesn’t have to be scary, complicated, or expensive. Heck, you can compare quotes online in your pajamas if you really want to.
Just remember one thing, when the time comes, even a small life insurance policy—term or permanent—is better than no life insurance policy. And who knows, your kid may be the next Lamar Odom!
I’ll talk more about the life insurance options that are out there in an upcoming post, but in the meantime, let me know if you have any questions.
